Rens van Helvoirt
I started my career with Shell R&D in 1977. During my employment with Shell R&D, I was involved in the deriving of the Shell standard test procedure for qualification of premium connections (known under the names TEO/3 or EP 92-0147) since 1985.
Since 1994, I was a focal point for the whole of the Shell group for technical support in OCTG and tubing and casing connections. During this period, I was in charge of a large number of qualification tests on various designs of premium connections. Furthermore, I was responsible for theoretical and experimental research in the fundamentals of metal-to-metal sealing.
In February 1996 I founded REVON b.v Technical Consultancy
I perform independent technical consultancy on OCTG related matters ranging from design, material selection, selection and qualification of connections to technical tender evaluations, mill audits, technical advice on manufacturing issues including QA/QC plus installation advice and support.
I performed a large number of studies and technical reviews of OCTG related technical issues including premium connection designs
In total I have been managing, supervising, witnessing and reporting a large number of premium connection qualification tests and many mill audits around the world for various customers since the foundation of my independent consultancy company.
I am the technical representative of The Netherlands on the ISO TC 67 SC 5 Editing Committee.
Apart from Operators I also give advice on technical issues including QA/QC to various.
Of interest is also that I have carried out a large number of technical mill audits and have been involved in all quality-related issues concerning these mills. I am consulting various customers on all quality-related aspects of steel making and manufacturing of steel pipes for the oil industry in mills in Asia, South America, Europe including Eastern Europe
I have been involved as a technical specialist witness in OCTG related litigations. Furthermore, we gave advice and active support to the development of new premium connections

I’ve started working for Revon since 2014. in this time I been active in all sides of the OCTG business. As an engineer, my main interest lies in R&D. My expertise is in Finite Element Analyses.
In total I have been managing, supervising, witnessing and reporting a large number of premium connection qualification tests and many mill audits around the world for various customers.
